How Often Should You Paint Your Roof?

Your roof should be painted every 10-15 years, or whenever the roof coating brakes down.

Why do I need to paint my roof?

The reason behind painting your roof every 10-15 years is because once the coating (roof membrane) brakes down and the tile is left bare, the concrete will begin to slowly break down over time. If the tile is left for many years and continues to break down it will eventually get to the stage where it can no longer be restored and a roof replacement is your only option. A roof replacement is a extremely costly process, one you only want to face as a last resort.

How do I know when I need to paint my roof?

You will know when it is time to paint your roof when your roof paint starts to look faded and worn. Generally, every 10-15 years.

What roof paint should I use?

We only use Nutech’s specialised range of roof coatings. They have been specially designed to withstand Queensland’s harsh conditions. Unlike many other roof paints, Nutech roof coatings are manufactured from tough acrylic resins and pigments which are durable, flexible and resistant to ultraviolet sunlight. When painting a metal roof we use a coating system specially designed for metal roofs.

Who should I get to paint my roof?

It is important to use a roofer with both a roofing licence and a painting licence when painting your roof. A painter may overlook roofing repair issues that need to be rectified prior to painting and a roofer may not have the painting experience necessary for a quality finish.
