The Type of Roofs We Paint
At Brisco Roofing we paint all kinds of roofs across Brisbane, Logan and The Redlands.
Tiled Concrete Roofs
Tile concrete roofs are very common, especially on homes built 10-30 years ago. Painting the concrete tile not only adds value to the home but also protects the tile from deteriorating and breaking down. Adding many years to your roof and preventing a required re-roof.
Metal and Zinc Roofs
Metal roofs are becoming more common in new builds as they are more cost-effective and lighter on the home structure. Painting your metal roof protects the metal from the coating breaking down leaving the metal bare and prone to rust. Regular roof painting of a metal roof will prolong the life of the roof while adding curb appeal to your home.
Colorbond Roofs
Colorbond is a brand name of metal sheeting, otherwise known as metal or zinc roofs. It is the most common brand used on the roof of homes and when newly installed comes pre-coated. This coating will break down over time and to ensure your Colorbond roof is not left exposed to the elements and prone to rust, it is recommended to paint your Colorbond roof every 10-15 years.
Slate Roofs
Not common in Australia, slate roofs are more of a special tile on a custom built home. If requested we can certainly paint a slate roof.
Flat Roofs
Flat roofs are more common in modern homes and commercial buildings. Special care needs to be taken with the water pressure when cleaning a flat roof. Our team are highly trained on all roofing surfaces and will adjust the roof painting process accordingly.

How Often Should I Paint My Roof?
How often you should paint your roof may be determined by a few things.
Time Has Passed
Generally, a roof will need to be appointed every 10-15 years to keep the roof sound and maintain the coating on your roof. This applies to both metal, zinc, Colorbond and concrete tile roofs. Maintaining the coating will prevent the roof material from deteriorating, which may result in a costly re-roof if left untreated.
Roof Maintenance
If a metal roofs shows signs of rust, or a concrete roof shows signs of broken tiles, or deteriorating bedding/ridge capping, maintenance needs to be performed. When painting roofs in Brisbane, Logan and Redlands our team will ensure all repair work is carried out before the roof painting. This ensures your rood not only looks great, but is sound.
Update Your Exterior
If you want to update the look of your home painting your roof is the easiest way to lift your curb appeal. This is also a great investment if you are looking to sell as a freshly painted roof raises the perceived value of a home.

The Products We Use to Paint Your Roof
Across all roofing services, our team only use the highest quality products. After all, you could have the best workmanship in the world but if you’re using a poor product it will eventually fail.
Your roof will be accessed in your free quote and products designed for your roofs specific needs will be used during your roof painting service. Rust may need to be treated when painting a metal, zinc or Colorbond roof. Mould, moss and mildew may need to be treated on a concrete tile roof prior to painting. If you have a roof with a small roof cavity a heat-reflective paint may be beneficial for you. We use a range of high-quality brands such as Dulux and Nutech Paints.
Â
Roof Painting Duration
A standard roof painting service will take 2-3 days to complete from start to finish. There is no need for anyone to be home during the roof painting process. The team’s only requirements are access to water and power, which you can leave a power cord under your garage door if needed. We ask that you have all windows closed, no clothes on the line, the driveway is clear and all outdoor furniture is clear of your gutter line.
Â
The Roof Painting Process
Preparation
All repair work is carried out, changing broken tiles, treating rust, re-bedding ridge capping etc.
Cleaning
Your roof will be high pressure cleaned to remove and dirt, grime and build up. Correct cleaning is an essential part for your roof restoration to last.
Prime Coating
A coat of specifically matched primer will be applied to your roof. A metal primer will be applied for zinc, metal or Colorbond roofs. A high build primer will be applied to concrete tiles which are course and pitted.
Painting
Two coats of roof membrane will be applied in your colour of choice. The coats are evenly applied using a special technique to ensure perfect coverage and correct application. Our customers have the option to upgrade their roof paint to heat-reflective paint. Ask us for more information when we meet for a quote.
Solar Panels and Roof Painting
Before you install solar panels
If you are getting solar panels installed it is highly recommended that you paint your roof beforehand. This will ensure the tiles are sound, preventing leaks under your solar panels. Ask the solar company to install the brackets prior to your roof painting service. This way we can repair any broken tiles caused during the bracket installation.
Have Panels and Want to Paint Under Them?
If you already have solar panels installed we can remove and re-install your panels. This is at a cost of $60 per panel to fully reinstall. This price is subject to change.
Don’t Want To Move Your Panels?
That’s okay! You also have the option of leaving the panels. The team will mask around the panels to protect them from any overspray during the roof painting process.
Â
Roofer or Painter to Paint My Roof?
To paint your roof correctly so it is sound, all repair work is carried out, and longevity is added to the life of your roof you need a roofer who is ideally licenced in both roofing and painting.
A painter is good at painting, but if the repair work is not carried out on your roof the roof painting you had done will not last. Additionally, if not correctly pre-treated the roof paint will lift, crack or peel – resulting in a very costly removal process.
Â
The Cost of Roof Painting
There are many variables to the cost of painting a roof:
- If the roof is metal or tile
- If guardrail is required
- The amount of repair work required
- The size of the roof
A roof painting service may range from $3,000 to upwards of $7,000 depending on these variables.
